Successful Homemade Stick Lure - Jackson Lawler
Jackson Lawler- “I started out with a stick I found in my backyard that I carved it into a topwater ‘walk the dog’ shape. I then sealed the wood and added hooks and she was good to go.”
“I decided to try this as I got tired of spending $20-30 buying good quality lures and decided to try to make one myself. I figured that to work it would have to float but have weight in the back to (in theory) walk the dog. I tested it out in my creek and it walked beautifully and I knew that it would get smashed. When I got the opportunity to fish with it, only 5 minutes went by before I had hooked and landed a nice bass! The day went on and the lure continued to prove itself, producing a beautiful sooty and even a toga. I felt proud that something I made was good enough to entice three different species. It just shows that anyone can do it with enough imagination, persistence and a handful of tools.”
