2K22 King of Kings

2K22 King of Kings brought some fairly average conditions restricting almost everyone, forcing them the rearrange their game plans. However, the week leading up to the event was magnificent, majority of the teams got to get out wide and do some sick fishing before the tournament.

Hi i’m Oska Polla-Mounter, the newest member to the SCF team. I love my fishing, surfing and just general outdoor activities. This is my 3rd year of participating in the SCF events and they are honestly some of the biggest highlights of the year for me. The king of kings event is by far my favourite which is held at Yeppoon, it’s always the biggest vibe there and you always seem to have the best time. In the last 2022 king of kings comp I was lucky enough to take out the win for the biggest bag of black jew which took an 1hr 20 to land on 8lb, measuring at 121cm.

The days leading up to the comp were glamours conditions only 5 knot variables, meaning we had no option but to send it wide chasing big nannies and some sick top water species. We absolutely smashed the nannies, boating 6 large nannies and some other big bottom dwellers. After having an awesome session on the nannies, on our way back to land we hit some of the closer islands for some top water bangers . After getting railed by some big GT’S we ended up with one Spanish off the top.

In the 2022 King of Kings the weather was as bad as it gets. Gust of 35 knot winds and 2 meters of swell, making it nearly impossible to fish and especially travelling to each spot. Barley making it on the plane in a 4.5m boat, water was consistently coming in, this was truly a humbling experience seeing how dangerous the ocean can get. At least the leading days towards the comp were amazing, getting the opportunity send it out wide to target some big nannies and some insane top water Spanish air strikes.

Bring on 2K23 King of Kings and get ready to see my name on the nannie board!
