Road Trip Fishing Adventure, Roma Australia
When it comes to fishing trips it isn’t always about what you catch but more about the places you get to explore and the people you meet along the way. On this little SCF trip, Heathy & Deano set off on a road trip, to visit Deano’s family in his hometown of Injune. The boy’s first stop along was one of Deano’s favorite land-based fishing spots as a kid, Bjelke-Peterson Dam, and it wasn’t long until the boys had the first fish for the trip. Deano landing a really healthy-looking bass!

After fishing for another 1-2 hours without a bite, it was time for the boys to keep moving. By this stage it was getting dark and Day 1 travels were coming to an end, with little reception and very little places offering a feed and accomodation, the boys were off to the Murgon pub for dinner. What an experience that was!
Up at the crack of dawn, Day 2 saw the boys drive the final stint through Roma, arriving at Injune just as the pub opened. It’d be rude not to right? After a quick pub feed and a catch-up with Deano’s brother & grandparents, the boys continued out to the family block for an afternoon fish in some natural waterholes.
On the way out Deano was sharing stories about how he would come down and fish these water holes as a kid and catch up to 15 yellow bellys at a time. Unfortunately this time the fish didn’t play the game, although it was definitely a different type of fishing and a huge eye-opener for Heathy.
Day 2 was coming to an end, the boys were fishless and ready for a few beers and a good night's sleep, ready for a big Day 3. Waking up in the middle of the night to very heavy rain and flood warnings all over social media and the news, the boys knew they had to bite the bullet and leave a day early so they could get through to Roma. Not before one last fish, of course, stopping in at Gordonbrook Dam on the way back to the Coast.
